Holiday
Our
holiday cottages are situated on opposite sides of the farm
courtyard. The courtyard is bounded on one side by the upper
reaches of the picturesque River Clydach (see left) and on the other
side by green parkland pastures that are grazed by sheep and cows (see
above). High hills of blue pennant sandstone provide the
background to an idyllic and tranquil scene that retains much of its
original remote and wild character. Holidaymakers are free to roam 120 acres of
beautiful Welsh countryside
in total, including an award winning bluebell woodland shown
below. During World War II, the woodland was used as a
hideout for the Elite Home Guard ( forerunners of the SAS). Can you find
their woodland shelter amongst the bluebells? Click here
for a paper written on the shelter by Martin Locock BA MIFA of the Glamorgan
Gwent Archaeological Trust.
There are oak benches to sit on and plenty of nest boxes for bird
watchers to find. The farm is ideal for those on a bird watching
holiday as it has contains a wide variety of different habitats.

The holiday cottage is situated in the beautiful countryside
of County Borough Neath Port Talbot.

The region consists of a sandy
coastal strip giving way rapidly to forested valleys surrounded by high
moorland. Mynnydd Marchywel (Hywel's Stallion Mountain), is
a broad sandstone ridge some 1371 feet high (see left). There is a
prehistoric stone circle at the summit, which may be reached in under an
hour on foot, although most walkers take a lot longer as the views are
so good.

The cottages are located on the edge of a forested valley some
8 miles from the coast. A walk to the high moorlands behind the cottage
gives wonderful views of Swansea Bay (see below) and on a clear day, you
can make out the Devon coastline. The chimneys are those of
Port Talbot steel works.

If you are holidaying
in the UK this year then why not visit the beautiful countryside of
South Wales and stay in our luxury Swansea Valley holiday cottages?
